First stop: Foz Do Iguacu de Brasilia & Puerto Iguazu - Cataratas de Iguazu

11 november 2014 - Puerto Iguazú (city), Argentinië

After a long trip from Amsterdam to Rome (with a short transfer) and then to Rio (with a long transfer) to Foz Do Iguacu, we were welcomed by a guy from the hostel where we were going to stay. When we arrived at the hostel (Eco Hostel Iguassu) we were astonished by the beauty of the place. If you ever go to Iguacu brazil, and you are looking for an affordable place to stay: this is definitely it! It´s surrounded by trees and there are numerous butterflies and birds. They also have a nice swimmingpool and it´s located just 500 meters from the entrance to the Iguacu Falls Park and 300 meters from the bird park. Bird park is also a must see when there.

We stayed in this place for 2 nights and then moved on towards Puerto Iguazu, Argentina. We were supposed to stay there for two nights, but since the hostel owners (Peter Pan Hostel) are really relaxed, plus our booking didn´t come through for some reason, we decided maybe to stay just one night here in stead of two. Also because the city does not have much to offer to be honest.

So on the day of arrival after checking in we headed to the busstation to book a night coach towards Salta. The nightcoach does not go to Salta but to Tucuman, so we decided to go with Tucuman, which will take us about 21 hours, and then take a bus from there to Salta for about 4 hours. Cashmachines here however, are terrible. You can only get 1500 pesos (approx. 150 euro) a time and have to pay a 5 euro fee to the bank on top of the usual fees you pay.

In the evening we were preparing dinner in the hostel and met a guy from Spain. Nice guy and is traveling alone. He was talking about renting a car around Salta, but it was too expensive by himself. So we suggested to share a car there since we will arrive there at the same day. Difference is that he will travel by bus directly to Salta during the day iso the night. Rest asure, we trust our gut feeling ;) No problema. Speaking of Spanish, I definitely want to improve my Spanish! Practice practice practice!

Today we went to see the Iguazu Falls from the Argentinian side. Many people seem to adore the Brazilian side, but Tanja and I were also extremely impressed, if not more impressed, by the Argentinian side. I guess it´s personal preferences... The Brazilian side offers a nice panoramic view, and we had great weather to. The Argentinian side allows you to come much closer to the falls. This gives you a feeling you are in the middle of the falls. Very impressive... even though we had rain all day today.

In 2 hours we will get on our bus to Tucuman. Hopefully our reservation at the Tucuman Hostel has come through, as we did not receive an official confirmation, only a standard email that they received our request. Surely it will. :)

Will upload more pictures when I get to Salta in a couple of days. I need to get them on dropbox, usb or phone. Got three camera´s at the moment (this includes my phone ofcourse). Hope you enjoyed reading, ended up writing a lot more then I thought I would at first!
